What about grade 7, 8 and beyond?

A comprehensive syllabus.

UME provides a solid framework for teachers with unlimited scope of style and genre, so that EVERY student can learn and be examined on pieces they love! We provide a full exam syllabus for beginners through to Grade 6.

There are plenty of options for creativity as well as making sure students are ‘ticking all the boxes’ of technical and repertoire goals for each level of their piano studies.

After grade 6, it becomes about the future.

Student needs are individual and we believe that any exams from Grade 7 onwards should be considered in the light of each student’s future plans.

Aim to gain entry to a particular university?

Great! Choose the exam syllabus that will best support the application – some colleges even give additional University admission points for certain exams achieved.

Hoping to study overseas?

Fantastic! Look into the performance requirements and take an exam that is well recognised in the country they’re hoping to visit – not just in the country they’ve grown up in!

Want to become a music teacher?

Terrific! There are exams that cater to the particular needs of those interested in pedagogy rather than performance, once pianistic competency has been established.
